After Thirty-three Years En Route, Voyager 1 At Edge Of Solar System

In 1977 Voyager 1 started a quest that has taken the NASA probe to the limit of the sun’s sphere of influence. Voyager 1 has spent the last thirty three years on a quest known as the “Grand Tour” which has taken it to Jupiter, Saturn and far beyond. Voyager 1 breaks the bonds of the solar system with an offering called the Voyager Golden Record on board. The Voyager Golden record is a presentation of noises and pictures that gives intelligent life that the probe may encounter an idea of where it came from. NASA probably had to take out a large paydayloans to fund the Voyager 1 even in 1977.

The Voyage 1 may bring us to interstellar space

Voyager 1 is traveling into deep space at a velocity of 38,185 mph and was about 11 billion miles from Earth on December 14. Right now, it has entered the heliosheath. That is an area in space. The limit of the range of the solar wind is what defines the heliosheath. A bubble called the heliospere is exactly what the bubble is called that has charged particles emanating from the sun for making up the solar wind. It is easy for NASA scientists to determine that the Voyager 1 is in the heliosheath rather than the heliosphere anymore. It is because solar wind has gone to zero, which is determined by the instruments on board. Voyager 1 will make its final exit from the heliosheath into interstellar space in about four more years.

The Voyager 1 has been a lot of locations

On September 5, 1977, the Voyager 1 left on its quest. As the outer planets aligned, it was a perfect time. Voyager 1 was planned to use “gravity assist” which was a newly discovered theory to use Jupiter gravity in order to get more speed and be slingshot into outer space. The Voyager 1 was able to send the first high-resolution photos of both Jupiter and Saturn. In 1979 and 1980, these were gone. The “Pale Blue Dot” was the last picture sent by Voyager 1 in 1990 which is a “family portrait” of the solar system with the Earth against the black background. Until 2025, the probe, which is nuclear-powered, ought to keep transmitting data. Radio signals are used by Voyager 1 to get to Earth. Over 16 hours are needed to do this right now.

Voyager Golden Record

If aliens are met by the Voyager 1, there is the Golden Record ready to go. Existence on earth in 1977 could be shown. The Voyager Golden Record is a gold-plated copper phonograph record complete with turntable and stylus containing data about the solar system and its planets, plus pictures of life on earth from humans to insects. Audio includes the sound of ocean surf, birds singing and music ranging from Beethoven to Chuck Berry.
